You need to reset your door lock in the case for some reason. Some of the reasons may be;
- You have lost or forgotten your user code so you need master code setup.
- Your door lock may not work mysteriously.
- You have installed the Lock.
- You want to change your lock owner and program the lock again.
Because of the above reason, you may need to do a reset on your lock.

Turbolock not working
Turbolock is a digital electronic deadbolt. It increases the security of the homeowners day by day.
But sometimes you may face trouble with the lock and need to troubleshoot it perfectly.
Whether it’s a beeping problem, jammed, or not working, we have gathered all the best ways to resolve your issues with the turbo lock.

Turbolock not opening
Installing a TurboLock smart door lock is a straightforward process that varies slightly depending on the model you have.
By following the step-by-step instructions provided in this guide, you can successfully open and install TurboLock models YL-99, TL-99, TL-100, TL-200, TL-400, and TL-500
Most doors come with pre-existing holes drilled in, making the installation process hassle-free. Here’s how you can install these models using just a screwdriver:
Step 1: Gather the necessary tools:

- Screwdriver
- Hammer (only required for doors without pre-existing holes)
- Chisel (only required for doors without pre-existing holes)
- Drill (only required for doors without pre-existing holes)
- 2” hole saw drill bit (only required for doors without pre-existing holes)
- 7/8 spade bit or 1” hole saw drill bit (only required for doors without pre-existing holes)
- Step 2: Prepare the door:
Step 2: Ensure the door is clean and free from any debris or obstructions.
If the door does not have pre-existing holes, mark the desired locations for the lock and handle using a pencil or marker.
Step 3: Install the lock:
- Insert the TurboLock smart door lock into the pre-existing holes.
- Secure the lock in place by tightening the screws using a screwdriver.
Step 4: Install the handle (if applicable):
- Align the handle with the pre-existing holes on the door.
- Secure the handle in place by tightening the screws using a screwdriver.
Step 5: Test the lock:
- Ensure the lock and handle operate smoothly.
- Test the lock by opening and closing the door to ensure proper functionality.
Opening and Installing TurboLock TL-400
The TurboLock TL-400 does not require any special installation procedures. Here’s how you can install this model using the included screwdriver:
Step 1: Unpack the lock:
Open the package and remove the TurboLock TL-400 smart door lock and the included screwdriver.
Step 2: Install the lock:
- Insert the TurboLock TL-400 into the pre-existing holes on the door.
- Secure the lock in place by tightening the screws using the included screwdriver.
Step 3: Test the lock:
- Ensure the lock operates smoothly.
- Test the lock by opening and closing the door to ensure proper functionality.
Note: It is important to store the screwdriver in a safe and accessible location, as losing it will prevent recharging the lock in the future.
Opening and Installing TurboLock TL-500
The TurboLock TL-500 requires attachment to the ground and involves a slightly different installation process. Here’s how you can install this model using a hammer drill and a 15/32” masonry drill bit:
Step 1: Gather the necessary tools:
- Hammer drill
- 15/32” masonry drill bit
Step 2: Prepare the installation area:
- Choose a suitable location on the ground for the TurboLock TL-500.
- Mark the drilling spots on the ground using chalk or tape.
- Use tape to measure the drilling depth for accurate installation.
Step 3: Drill the holes:
- Attach the 15/32” masonry drill bit to the hammer drill.
- Carefully drill holes into the marked spots
Step 4: Insert the lock:
- Align the TurboLock TL-500 with the drilled holes.
- Insert the lock into the holes on the ground.
Step 5: Secure the lock
- Use a screwdriver to tighten the screws provided with the TurboLock TL-500.
- Ensure the lock is securely fastened to the ground.
Step 6: Test the lock:
- Confirm that the TurboLock TL-500 operates smoothly.
- Test the lock by opening and closing the door to ensure proper functionality.
Optional: Using chalk and tape during installation can be helpful for marking drilling spots on the ground and measuring drilling depth accurately. This step is recommended but not mandatory.
Turbolock is jammed
Your turbo lock may be jammed due to any dirt or debris stuck on it, a low battery, or a wrong latch mechanism.
So check if there is any dirt in the lock. Clean it to solve the issue.
You may even check if the latch bolt is installed perfectly. If not, disassemble the lock, and assemble it again to fix the trouble. If you do that, you can also find out if there is any damage.
Your lock may also be jammed if the battery is low. In that case, you need to replace it with new ones.
When you can’t find any exact issue, contact a professional to get proper help.
Turbo lock dead batteries
Your turbo lock may not work if it can’t receive power. So what can you do?
Confirm that the turbo lock batteries are correctly installed. Remove the batteries and install them correctly. Even confirm the correct polarity.
Your turbo lock may not work if the batteries are low or near dead. In that case, replace the batteries and try again.
You can also use the backup battery to recharge the lock. If the problem is still present, look for customer support.
Your Turbolock may also not work if there is a fault with the latch bolt mechanism.
So check if there is dirt or debris. If yes, clean it.
If it’s not the issue, the latch installation may be wrong. So, disassemble the lock and assemble it again to solve the problem.
Turbo lock battery replacement
If your Turbo lock battery is dead then you need to know how to replace Turbo lock batteries . We have another blog post also, you can skim the takeaways for it:
TL-100 and TL-200 Battery Replacement:
- Slide the back cover up to detach it from the lock.
- Insert four AA batteries into the slots, ensuring correct polarity.
- Slide the back cover down until it locks into place.
YL-99 and TL-99 Battery Replacement:
- Unscrew the back cover using an appropriate screwdriver.
- Insert four AAA batteries into the slots, aligning polarity.
- Secure the back cover with screws.
TL-400 Battery Recharge
- Gather the required tools: screwdriver and micro USB cable.
- Remove the cover from the lock and connect the micro USB cable.
- Recharge the lock until the battery is fully charged.
- Replace the cover by aligning the notches and securely attaching it.
TL-500 Battery Replacement
- Lower the lock’s arm for access to the battery compartment.
- Use the included keys to unlock and remove the cover.
- Disconnect the battery box from the lock.
- Open the battery box, insert four D batteries, and close it securely.
- Reconnect the battery box to the lock.
- Reinstall the cover, aligning the notches, and lock it with the provided key.
Why won’t my Turbolock stop beeping?
When you notice your turbo lock is continuously beeping or won’t stop the beeps, it indicates the batteries are low or near dead.
There also be an error with the lock. You may get the low-battery warning via a notification through the App or from the Turbolock.
So at that moment, you need to replace the entire battery as soon as possible.
If you notice the problem is still present after the battery replacement, something is wrong with your turbo lock or any Smart lock.
It might happen when you enter the wrong password continuously several times. In that case, ensure you use the correct enter code.
Why does my TurboLock YL-99 keep beeping?
Your turbo lock YL-99 may beep as a warning sign of low battery. In that case, replace the batteries with 4 AAA batteries.
You may get the replacement method from the above section. Please follow it carefully to replace the batteries with new ones.
Turbolock beeps 3 times: what does it mean?
In your turbo lock YL-99, the locks beep three times as a low battery warning. So, replace new batteries as soon as possible to solve this issue.
On the contrary, in your turbo lock TL-111, three times of beeps indicate you may save a new password.
How to mute turbo lock YL-99?
Your turbo lock YL-99 may be beeping as a warning sign of low battery. So if you want to mute your Turbolock YL-99, you can follow the below instructions:
- Type your default master code ‘0123’.

- Then push on the ‘#’ button.

- Now wait until you notice the beeping sound is stopped.
- You will see the blue lights are still on, and at that moment, press the ‘*’ button before the lights turn off.

Thus you can turn off or mute your turbo lock YL-99.
How do you disassemble the turbo lock YL-99?
If your Turbolock YL-99 is jammed and won’t work, disassemble the lock to check for any damage or the faulty latch mechanism.
So how can you disassemble the lock? Follow the below steps. You can also perform these steps for the turbo lock TL-99:
- Take a screwdriver and remove the two screws at the back side of the lock.
- Now take out the battery compartment.
- Then remove the two screws that hold the back part of your lock to the door. Now detach any cable smoothly.
- If there exist any screws in the front section of the lock, remove them. Then take out the latch and any part you want.
How to open a turbo lock YL-99 with a screwdriver?
If some cases, you need to open your Turbolock YL-99, try the below steps with just a screwdriver.
Note that there are four screws on the backside of the external door knob. If we remove these screws, the entire knob comes aside, and we can open the door.
So, Let’s catch how we can perform that:
You may require a screwdriver like the below one:

Before starting, check if the door latch is not retracted when turning the outside knob. If not, you can follow the below steps to open the lock:
- Take this screwdriver and unscrew the four screws on the backside of the exterior door knob.

- Now take these screws out.
- Take out the whole face of the knob. We will get the small bar that helps retract your latch bolt.

- Now, the latch bolt will be retracted.

Thus you can open your turbo lock with a screwdriver.
How to perform a soft reset on turbo lock YL-99?
A soft reset will delete all user and passage codes from a turbo lock. But it won’t delete the master code.
Let’s know the instructions below to know the soft reset process:
- Enter your current master code.
- Then click on the hash(#) icon.
- Wait until you see the green indicator lights and beeping sounds shut up. The blue keypad backlit will still remain on.
- Type ‘00000’.
- Click on the ‘*’ symbol.
- You will hear several beeping sounds of the lock. Thus the lock ensures all the user codes are erased.
How to perform a hard reset on Turbo lock YL-99 Lock?
If you forget the master code, you just need a hard reset on your lock to re-program the lock codes.
A hard reset will delete all the user codes as well as the master code from the lock. Then the master code will back its default code ’0123’ again.
On the contrary, all user codes may be erased permanently, and you need to re-program these codes.
Anyway, let’s see how we can do a hard reset on our Turbo Lock YL-99:
- Keep your door open and unlocked.
- Take a screwdriver and unscrews the screws to remove them from the inner knob cover.

- Take out the knob cover. The reset button is placed on the battery pack.
- Press and hold this reset button only for 5 seconds until you hear three beeps.
Now the master code will be erased and back to its default master code’0123’.

Why is the red light flashing on my TurboLock?
Sometimes the Turbolock or Smart lock keeps beeping, and the buttons flash red as a low battery warning.
At that moment, battery replacement may solve this issue.
Here are some troubleshooting steps for TurboLock battery replacement:
Check the battery type: Turbo-Lock typically uses AA or AAA alkaline batteries. Ensure that you are using the correct battery type.
How to set up the passage code?
To set up a user code, you can use a maximum of 15 digits sequence of numbers.
When you set the passage code on your Turbolock YL-99 door lock, you can unlock your door without entering any codes. You may only click any key to open the door lock.
To set up a passage code, use a maximum of 15 digits. These codes should be a sequence of numbers.
In that case, the user code will be a combination of 1-8 digits, and the first digit of the code would be any digit from 1-8 numbers.
Anyway, now we will learn the process of how we can set a passage code. Let’s get started:
- Type the existing passage code.
- Then click on the ‘#’ symbol.
- Wait until you see the green indicator lights and beeping sounds shut up. The blue keypad backlit will still remain on.
- Type the new passage code that starts with the digit ’9’. You should remember the passage code will always start with ‘9’.
- Then click on the ‘*’ symbol.
- You will hear two beeping sounds of the lock. Thus the lock ensures the passage codes are saved.
How to unlock the door with a passage code?
- Type your passage code.
- Click on the ‘#’ icon.
- You will notice beeping sounds and the green indicator lights up.
- When the beeping sounds emit, the door lock is unlocked.
- When the sounds stop, the door lock returns to the locked position quickly.
How to delete the passage code?
Follow the below steps and instructions if you want to delete the passage code:
- Type your existing master code.
- Then click on the ‘#’ symbol.
- Wait until you notice the green indicator lights and beeping sounds shut up. The blue keypad backlit will remain on.
- Type ‘00009’.
- Then click on the ‘*’ icon.
- At that moment, to ensure the code is erased, the lock will beep several times.
Remember to use high-quality batteries and replace them regularly to ensure that your Turbo smart Lock works properly.
