Slipping Keyless Entry Schlage Deadbolt Lock

The problem with a slipping Schlage lock is usually caused by a loose or incorrectly placed spring that doesn’t pull the pin far enough to engage the lock. The solution is to adjust the spring so that it pulls the pin higher up. This can be done by disassembling the lock and making some minor adjustments.

To start, you’ll need to gather some tools. You will need three different sized bits to disassemble the lock, including a P2 standard Phillips head, a T15, and a T10. Once you have your tools ready, follow these simple steps:

How to fix Schlage slipping keyless entry?

Step 1: Remove the battery cover and batteries.

First, remove the battery cover and batteries from your Schlage keyless entry deadbolt lock. This will give you access to the screws that hold the lock together.

Step 2: Remove the screws

Using the P2 Phillips head bit, remove the two screws located on the inside of the lock, near the latch.

Step 3: Remove the backplate

Once the screws are removed, you can take off the backplate of the lock by pulling it away from the door.

Step 4: Adjust the spring.

With the backplate removed, you will see the spring that controls the lock’s pin. Use the T15 bit to adjust the spring so that it pulls the pin higher up.

This will ensure that the pin engages with the lock and prevents it from slipping.

Step 5: Reassemble the lock

Once you’ve made the necessary adjustments, it’s time to put the lock back together. Reattach the backplate and insert the screws using the P2 Phillips head bit. The trickiest part of reassembling the lock is making sure the base plate is horizontal while the knob is vertical. To do this, insert the manual key to unlock the base plate, then re-lock it once it’s in the correct position.

Step 6: Test the lock

Finally, test the lock to make sure it’s working properly. Enter your code or use the manual key to lock and unlock the deadbolt. If everything is working as it should, you’re good to go!

Overall, fixing a slipping keyless entry Schlage deadbolt lock is a simple process that can save you from having to replace your entire lock. With just a few tools and some minor adjustments, you can have your lock working like new again in no time.
