If you are using older Schlage deadbolt then you must be facing several issues while installing it.

I have written this article on it so you can easily install your old Schlage lock even though when your Schlage lock is not working. It means, when you have tried the installation before prior experience then it might fall short to successfully install it.

No worries, I will help you to do it successfully.

If you are stuck in the middle of schlage lock installation process then here is my quick step by step guideline for you

Before installing your Schlage smart lock, remove your old lock from the door. This is a quick and easy process that should take less than 10 minutes.

Use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the old lock in place.

Once you remove the old lock, clean the area around the door and get it ready for the new Schlage smart lock.

Next, install the Schlage smart lock. To begin, insert the deadbolt into the door, ensuring that the latch is properly aligned.

After inserting the deadbolt, screw the mounting plate into place using the included screws.

Ensure that the mounting plate is level and properly aligned with the deadbolt.

Next, insert the batteries into the battery compartment.

The Schlage smart lock uses four AA batteries, which should last for up to six months.

Once the batteries are installed, attach the exterior keypad to the mounting plate using the included screws.

Finally, attach the interior cover to the mounting plate using the included screws.

After installing the Schlage smart lock, it’s time to set it up. Begin by downloading the Schlage mobile app, which is available for free on the App Store and Google Play.

Once you have downloaded the app, create a Schlage account. This account is required to set up the lock and will allow you to remotely control your lock.

Next, add the Schlage smart lock to your account by following the instructions in the app. This typically involves scanning the HomeKit code with your phone’s camera.

If your phone cannot find the lock, try tapping your phone to the lock instead. You will glad to find the NFC chip inside the lock, this should help speed up the setup process.

Once your lock is set up, connect it to your Wi-Fi network. The Schlage smart lock uses a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi radio, so ensure that your Wi-Fi network is compatible. (screenshot)

One of the best features of the Schlage smart lock is the ability to set up access codes. This allows you to give friends, family members, or service providers access to your home without giving them a physical key.

Finally, you can set up the Schlege Home Key, which allows you to use your iPhone or Apple Watch as a key to unlock your door. By the way, the apple app is no longer work with Schlege anymore.
